Our History

First American began business as a small merchant acquirer in 1990. The company has grown exponentially since then by developing its own in-house payment processing products, which benefits its partners and eliminates the need for third party providers. Plus, proprietary front- and back-end systems give First American additional control, flexibility and security.

For 20 years, First American has been committed to making conservative, intelligent financial decisions. The resulting steady growth and stability has given First American the means to support its partners' expansion goals. First American has helped many ISOs grow their businesses by providing strategic advice and potential capital allocation.

First American provides merchant services to over 120,000 businesses nationwide. Last year, First American processed over $9 billion in credit card processing and 135 million transactions. Currently, First American employs more than 1,400 W-2 employees working to support our partners and their merchants.

Jason Putnam
Vice President of Sales, Strategic Partner Channel

Jason Putnam joined First American in 2008 and has more than 16 years experience working in payment processing. He began his career at Chase Paymentech, where he worked for more than 12 years. Jason is responsible for developing and ultimately achieving all sales initiatives within the Strategic Partner Channel, which includes Independent Sales Offices, financial institutions, associations, referral partners and internal sales. He is additionally personally responsible for managing the relationships for First American’s top producing partners.


Cody Yanchak
Director of Sales

Cody pursues and cultivates partnerships with agents and ISOs looking to offer electronic payment processing to merchants. Formerly with Chase Paymentech and Century Payments, Cody focused on providing solutions to merchants and partners alike, giving him the ability to view partnerships and programs from several perspectives.  With an educational background in Business Management and a passion for finance, Cody is well-equipped to offer customized solutions to partners based on individual models and goals.


Jinni Touchstone
Manager of Client Relations

Jinni is responsible for managing the Client Relations team, which is tasked with training, growing and cultivating First American’s strategic partners and financial institutions.  In addition, she manages a portfolio of tenured agents and ISOs.  Jinni began her career with First American in 2003.  She has served in Leasing, Credit and Underwriting, Agent Support, Maintenance Support and now Client Relations.  She and the entire Client Relations team are committed to serving First American’s ISO, agent and referral partners with the highest level of service.


Rita Smith
Training Specialist

Rita leads training initiatives for our new and existing sales offices and representatives. She provides training on credit card processing and other services offered by First American along with industry education and MasterCard and VISA requirements. Rita has been working for First American since November 2000 and spent 17 years prior to that in the credit card industry.


Joyce Adams
Client Relations Specialist

Committed to giving partners the necessary tools for success, Joyce assists ISOs in growing their businesses and sales portfolios.  She answers sales questions and provides consultation, sharing sales and business strategies, new product information and industry news. Joyce has several years of experience in fundraising, grant research and sales, including her position as Assistant Director of Fundraising for the American Heart Association and Field Sales Representative for Scholastic Books.
